This is a supremely clever Murano glass sculpture, with 3 different techniques involved in its construction. Hand-crafted using firstly the 'massello' technique, which involves modelling a solid mass of glass while it is still hot, 24 carat gold is worked into the sculpture, using a method called 'rigadin ritorto'. The parrots are attached by hinges to the base, which is crafted using an immersion technique to create layers of coloured glass -'a sbruffi'.
